In collaboration with the University of California, Los Angeles, Professor Ji Stel of the University of Science and Technology of China has made important progress in the field of lithium-ion batteries, making black phosphorus composites into electrode plates.

"We use conventional processes and technical parameters to make black phosphorus composites into electrodes. Laboratory measurements show that the electrode sheet can restore about 80% of its charge in 9 minutes of charging, and can still maintain 90% of its capacity after 2000 cycles. The mass production of this material, if found to match positive materials and other auxiliary materials, may result in the production of a fast-charging lithium-ion battery with an energy density of 350 kW/kg. The paper's co-first author, Xin Sen, a researcher at the Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said.
